automotive applications based on the GSM and GPS
technology. Together with our customers and partners, we
can offer a total solution for a wide range of
applictions, give courses, and help you with your system
design.
The MTU-5 series (Machine Telematic
Unit) is designed for typical industrial applications
where these products brings wireless GSM connectivity
using SMS and CSD (data) as well as audio communication
from the machine to the operator. The VTU-5 series
(Vehicle Telematic Unit) is deigned for the automotive
industry.
To customers or partners who have
the ability to develop applications and systems on their
own, we offer - as the first provider in the world - two
different Application Development Kits, one for the
MTU-5 and MTU-5i platforms and one for the MTU-5g
platform. The reason for not calling these products SDK
(Software Develpment Kit) is that they are in no way
limited to software design. Technical information on how
to design a system, how to handle many common tasks in
wireless technology, and what to think about when
starting application develpment is included.

The MTU-5 is an intelligent GSM connectivity
terminal suitable for remote controlling devices in a wide
range of applications. Depending on the downloaded software,
the MTU-5 can work as a stand-alone computer, information
logger, or handle many important tasks such as sending alarms
using SMS (or CSD), monitoring temperature,
pressure and flow sensors connected to an RS-485 multi-drop
network. The RS-232 connection can be used to connect
the MTU to an industrial computer, a PDA or other compliant
product. Supply 9 - 36 Vdc and the MTU will operate
as instructed and give you full control of the machine from
all over the world.

The MTU-5i is a bigger brother of the MTU-5, equiped
with 6 digital inputs (optically isolated), divided
into two groups where each group has it's own ground level,
and 4 digital outputs (low side switch type). Same
as the MTU-5, the MTU-5i has a 2.5 mm hands-free connector
for audio communication. The MTU-5i is designed for applications
where an industrial computer or a PLC is responisble for the
automation task, and must be remotely controlled. The application
can be desigend to trigger alarms, store data (logging device)
or communicate using RS-485 and RS-232. By adding industrial
protocols like Modbus, Comli, ... the MTU-5i
can be easily incorporated in a standard industrial application.

The MTU-51C has the same configuration
as MTU-5i with an additional CAN-2.0B port. In industrial
applications CANOpen, DeviceNet, ... can be
used as a higher level protocol. In automotive applications
the MTU-51C can be used as a wireless access gateway and event
logger for the OBD-II standard.

For the heavy vehicle
and out-doors applications, the MTU-5i is cased in a more
approriate box with a rugged connector. This product is only
available in high volumes and as an OEM-product, together
with our wireless telematic software platform.

suitable for remote controlling devices in a wide range of
applications like tracking, postioning, zoning,
fleet management, .... Depending on the downloaded
software, the MTU-5g works as a stand-alone computer, information
logger or handle many important tasks such as sending alarms
using SMS (or CSD), monitoring temperature, pressure and flow
sensors connected to the RS-485 multi-drop network. The RS-232
can be used to connect the MTU-5g to an industrial computer,
a PDA or other compliant product. Supply 9 - 36 Vdc and the
MTU-5g will operate as instructed and give you full control
of the mobile equipment from all over the world.

If you're a third-party software
developer, solution provider, service provider, or end user,
you can now take full advantage of our mobile telematic platforms.
Software is developed using ANSI-C in a full featured
IDE (Integrated Development Environment). The resulting
firmware is then easily downloaded with a serial cable connected
between your PC and the MTU-5 or MTU-5i. Included are one
MTU-5i with antennas and cables, software libraries, API-documentation
and application examples.
